Karachi, 29 Dec 2016: Ground Breaking Ceremony of Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital and Research Centre was held at DHA City Karachi (DCK) project site with great fanfare. Mr Imran Khan, Chairman Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust and a young pediatric cancer patient from Interior Sindh jointly unveiled the plaque to perform the historical ground breaking of a state-of-the-art cancer treatment facility that will make comprehensive cancer care accessible to the people of Sindh and adjoining areas.

Mr Imran Khan said that the cherished Cancer Hospital at the strategic location of DCK would be a beacon of hope, inspiration and solace for the people suffering from the devastation disease of cancer. He thanked DHA for providing 20 acres of precious land in DHA City and hoped that people of Sindh in particular and other provinces in general will greatly benefit from the most advanced cancer treatment facility in the country. He hoped that the Cancer Hospital will become functional by Dec, 2019.

Dr Faisal Sultan, CEO Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital said that the new cancer treatment facility being established at DCK will have Operating Rooms, ICU, Chemo Bay Facility, Inpatient Rooms, Outpatient Clinics, nine Clinical Departments and biggest Oncology Centre of the country. He further said that the facility coming up would open unprecedented opportunities for the oncologists, doctors, nurses and health professionals to get training in management, diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients.

DHA accords highest priority to the promotion of quality health care facilities for the masses as its fundamental socio-economic obligation. Dedicated Health Care District in DCK spread over 105 acres of land is coming up as a nucleus for provision of world-class healthcare and medical treatment facilities. DHA has proved to be a vanguard for Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital which is being established as a unique medical venture for a humanitarian cause in DHA City.
