Karachi 4 April 2017: DHA City Karachi (DCK) is a uniquely conceived modern and dynamic residential project on Super Highway, which is being expeditiously developed in accordance with the contemporary engineering and urban planning concepts. DCK has been planned as a sustainable, green and smart city of Pakistan. A significant feature of DHA City is that it is coming up as an environmental friendly city where renewable green energy in form of solar and wind energy will substantiate the conventional thermal power to provide environmentally safe and efficient electric energy. A Solar Park symbolizing a forward looking and trendsetter initiative of DHA has been set up at DCK which is harbinger of initiating generation of renewable, safe and efficient energy in the country.

The Solar Project harnesses abundance of sunshine available in the area using state-of-the-art smart grid integrated technology to produce electricity. Efficiently designed Solar Panels and top of the line Solar PV Cells imported from China and technologically advanced hi tech grid connected Invertors from Germany are being used to generate efficient electric power. Solar Tree like structure has been made that efficiently utilizes parking lot for a dual purpose i.e providing shade for parked vehicles as well as to generate solar energy. Additional solar panels have also been fixed on roofs of building tops in the area while ground mounted solar panels have been placed on ground at the designated areas for converting solar energy into electric power.

Initially a Pilot Project of 1.1 MW has been established to provide electricity to Campsite Area of DHA City, additional components (modules) are being added to the solar project shortly to enhance its capacity to 1.5 MW. It is one of the most successful pioneering solar power project of Pakistan. The Solar Project has successfully been completed, connected and has started efficiently supplying electric power to various locations/buildings in DHA City.

Commander 5 Corps Lt Gen Shahid Baig Mirza last week formally inaugurated a 1.1 MW state-of-the-art solar power pilot project in DCK that will harness the abundance of sunshine in the area to produce environmentally safe electric energy. Corps Commander commended the energy smart initiative of DHA City and stressed on the need of conservation of power and use of alternate source of renewable energy to overcome the shortage of electric energy in the country.

DHA Solar Power Pilot Project as an energy smart initiative is a significant beginning of large scale development of Solar Power Energy in Pakistan which is a significant step forward towards revolutionizing the concept of modern living in the country.
