DHA Energy Supply Company (DESCO) has successfully energized the Main Switch Room at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) in DHA City Karachi. The development marks a significant milestone in strengthening reliable and continuous power infrastructure across the community.

Supporting a Major Healthcare Project

The Main Switch Room is an important part of the hospital’s electrical infrastructure. Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Karachi will be the Trust’s third and largest cancer hospital, providing multi-modality cancer care for Karachi, the rest of Sindh and Southern Balochistan. The facility will cover 1 million square feet and have more than 400 beds. The hospital has been reported as on track to open in December 2026.

Strengthening DHA City’s Power Network

The milestone also reflects DESCO’s growing role in the community’s development. NEPRA has granted DESCO electricity distribution and supply licences for DHA City Karachi, valid from October 1, 2026, until September 30, 2046. The regulator also noted that key infrastructure, including grid stations, transmission lines and a distribution network, has already been established in DHA City Karachi.

Powering Progress at DHA City Karachi

The energization of the SKMCH Main Switch Room reinforces DESCO’s commitment to reliable and continuous electricity. As healthcare, residential and commercial development continues, dependable power infrastructure will remain essential to the future of DHA City Karachi.
